AI SEO agency: get found where customers now ask

As an AI SEO agency, BAROIAN builds the foundation so ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can find your business, understand it and cite it as a source. We follow what the platforms publish, not tricks. We measure first, build precisely, and prove the results.

In short

What does an AI SEO agency do?

An AI SEO agency optimizes your website so AI search systems can choose it as a source. The foundation is still good SEO. Google says so itself in its guide to generative AI features. That is why we check technology and content first. Then we add what AI systems need on top.

BAROIAN is an AI SEO agency in Berlin. It optimizes websites for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. The agency was founded in 2016 and is led by Edgar Khachatryan.

How it works

How does AI search find your website?

AI search systems do not only answer from memory. For current questions they search the web and summarize matching results. Google calls this grounding. The system also splits one question into several sub-searches. Google calls this query fan-out. If someone asks for a suitable agency, the AI can search separately for services, location, reviews and experience.

That means one strong homepage is rarely enough. Your website should answer your customers' most important questions clearly. It does not need a separate page for every possible sub-search, and Google warns against that in its guide. So we do not only look at keywords. We look at the questions your customers actually ask.

How AI search splits a question into sub-searches and builds an answer with cited sources

Why robots.txt suddenly matters

Each system sends its own crawlers. ChatGPT uses OAI-SearchBot for search, and OpenAI explicitly recommends allowing it. For Claude, that job falls to Claude-SearchBot, and Anthropic points out that blocking it can reduce visibility. Many websites block these crawlers without knowing it. That is the first thing we check.

ChatGPT: OAI-SearchBot for search

Claude: Claude-SearchBot for search

Perplexity: PerplexityBot for its index

Google: Googlebot, the same index as regular search

Copilot: Bingbot, the Bing index

Comparison

How is AI SEO different from classic SEO?

The foundation is the same, but the goal shifts. Instead of only ranking first in a list, you want to appear inside the answer.

Building blocks

What is part of AI SEO?

These 6 building blocks matter most. Your free SEO audit shows which ones your website needs.

Content built on real experience

Google asks for content that no other page could replace. We bring your know-how onto the page: real processes, real questions, real answers. It pays off: a research paper on GEO (KDD 2024) measured up to 40% more visibility in AI answers. Cited sources, quotes and supported numbers performed best.

Technology crawlers can read

Indexing, robots.txt, load time and semantic HTML. Your content sits directly in the code, so every crawler can read it without detours.

Clear entities

Company, location, service and owner are unambiguous and consistent everywhere. Structured data helps, but it does not replace good content.

Mentions on other websites

AI systems trust what several independent sources confirm. That is why real listings, reviews and trade articles help, and bought mentions do not.

Google and Bing first

AI Overviews use the Google index, Copilot uses the Bing index. We look after your presence in both, along with your Google Business Profile.

Measurement, not gut feeling

AI visibility can be measured through the generative AI report in Google Search Console and the AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools. The one-time free audit also shows whether AI systems mention you.

Straight answers

What does not work in AI SEO?

The market is full of promises. In its guide, Google lists several tactics you do not need for Google Search. We tell you that before you pay for them.

The promiseWhat is really behind it
llms.txt as a ranking leverGoogle Search does not use the file. Other systems may find it useful. It costs little, but it is not a lever.
Cutting content into small chunksUnnecessary, says Google. Its systems understand several topics on one page. There is no ideal length.
Rewriting content for AINot needed for Google Search, because AI systems understand synonyms and intent. Write for people. Supported numbers and sources still help, because they also serve your readers.
Buying mentionsAccording to Google, manufactured mentions are less helpful than they seem. Real mentions help, bought ones do not.
Special schema for AIThere is no special markup for AI search. Structured data is still useful.
Publishing hundreds of AI articlesMass-produced pages without value violate the Google spam policies.

Our own website shows how we handle this: it has an llms.txt, allows search crawlers and states clear facts. What makes the difference, though, is good content and clean technology. That is also what our SEO agency work is built on.

  • The size of your website and the number of services.

  • The competition in your industry and region.
  • Your content: what already exists, what needs to be created?

FAQ

Common questions about AI SEO

What is AI SEO?

AI SEO means optimizing a website for the answers of AI search systems. The goal is to be cited as a source. You will also see the terms GEO (generative engine optimization) and AEO (answer engine optimization). They mean essentially the same thing.

Can you guarantee a mention in ChatGPT?

No. Anyone who promises that has nothing to back it up. Each AI system decides on its own which sources it cites. We build the foundation, and your monthly report shows rankings, visitors and inquiries.

How long does AI SEO take to work?

First measurable effects usually appear after 3 to 6 months, depending on competition and the state of your website. We fix technical errors right away. Content takes longer to build, and mentions on other websites grow over time.

How do you measure visibility in AI search?

It can be measured through the generative AI report in Google Search Console and the AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools. The one-time free audit also checks whether AI systems mention you.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

Not for Google. Google Search says it does not use the file. Other systems may find it useful, and it does no harm. We maintain one, but we do not sell it as a ranking lever.

Do I need good Google rankings for AI search?

For Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, yes. Google says both run on the same ranking systems as regular search. ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity use their own sources, but solid technology and strong content help everywhere.

Should I allow AI crawlers in robots.txt?

Search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot and Claude-SearchBot should be allowed, otherwise these systems may struggle to find you. Training crawlers such as GPTBot and ClaudeBot are a separate decision. We go through both with you and set them up properly.
